Milking economies: Multispecies entanglements in the infant formula industry

In 2016 the Chinese infant formula company Feihe International signed a deal with Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) to process cows’ and goats’ milk for export China. Our purpose in this paper is understand how – new factory located Kingston, Canada underpinned by series of multispecies entanglements across cow, human goat mothers China Canada. To do so, we analyse official correspondence between CDC, City Kingston; market reports dairy, industries; news articles about plant. Conceptually, develop an anti-colonial, entanglement framework chart violent inclusions, exclusions typologizations that make economies possible. We are specifically interested Feihe–CDC (re)configures species, nation, race, science motherhood. these relations, heuristically imbricate two different sets underpin deal: drinking, empire genetic purity breed species; motherhood, technology humans, goats cows. use our threefold better violence imbrications work towards feminist ethic industry.
